    Not unexpectedly, US Womens Skeleton Coach, Tim Nardiello, filed with the New York Supreme Court to intervene in deciding whether the U.S. Bobsled and Skeleton Federation's suspension of Nardiello due to sexual harassment accusations, is warranted. The Federation has been ordered to prove its positions while the allegations are investigated in a court session on Monday, January 9.

    In an order issued Thursday by the New York Supreme Court, Judge James P. Dawson called for the hearing and ordered that U.S. Bobsled and Skeleton president Jim Shea Sr., show cause to keep the court from granting a preliminary injunction that would reinstate Nardiello as coach.

    Just recently, the United States Olympic Committee and the US Ski Federation both mentioned that they plan to "petition" (formally request) that the IOC add Ski Jumping and Nordic Combined for women to the slate of Winter Olympics Games sports. It's hoped that by 2010 (Calgary, CA) these sports will allow women athletes to participate.

    Canadian Olympic athletes (ski jumping, nordic combined, cross country) are also practicing this summer at the Canada Olympic Park.

    According to the United States Biathlon Team, biathlete Jay Hakkinen has also been selected to represent the US in Torino, due to his strong performances in World Cup competition earlier this year.
